Project Happy Feet volunteer Chen Ming was in Hanoi, Vietnam and stopped by Blue Dragon Children Foundation’s (BDCF) drop-in center to present a mock cheque of SGD 10,670.07 to the organisation as well as to find out more about its programmes.
BDCF reaches out to kids in crisis throughout Vietnam. Its residential facilities, centers, and programmes give underprivileged children and youths the chance to have a home, a good education, and a happy, stable life. It aims to break the poverty cycle by offering education, training, and job opportunities to those who need them the most: street kids, child victims of trafficking, and the rural poor.
The amount of SGD 10,670.07 was raised through the Project Happy Feet Slipper Race and was recently wired to Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. The amount will be channeled to BDCF’s “Stay in School” program, which focuses on rural children at risk of dropping out of school. This program supports children from the poorest rural families, specifically in the Bac Ninh province in Vietnam, by providing for all school-related costs, such as uniforms, tuition fees, stationery, textbooks et cetera.
Project Happy Feet empowers lives of under-privileged children through education and training related initiatives, such as the “Stay in School Program” of BDCF. Project Happy Feet would like to thank all supporters who have contributed to the fund raising efforts, and who have made education a possibility for these children in Vietnam.
